Day 4 of NAFW 2016* is dedicated to a manicure inspired by a fashion trend. I chose leopard print, which is incredibly popular this year and it’s colour palette expanding from the traditional orange and brown to fun purple, red, silver and even rainbow gradients. A rainbow gradient leopard print is nothing new to nail artists so, perhaps, fashion designers are now taking inspiration from nail art!
For my leopard print nails, I opted for something that has not been done before – a combination of leopard print and geometric shapes! The design was inspired by a fabulous coat from the Antonio Marras Fall 2016 collection.
By the way, if you need some fresh nailspiration, I strongly recommend check out Antonio Marras’ collection. It’s full of incredible prints that can be easily translated into nail art. I’ve already saved this look for my next nail art project (after NAFW 2016, of course).
To get the look: First apply 2-3 coats of milk white nail polish. Using a striping nail art brush to paint straight half moon details in light blue, pink and yellow as shown in this video tutorial. Using a detailing brush with black polish, paint a leopard print pattern as shown in this tutorial from our e-book. Let your manicure dry for a few minutes then clean up around the cuticles. Seal it with a quick dry top coat.
* Download the NAFW 2016 schedule here if you haven’t already. If you’d like to join the challenge just for the weekend, go for it! The more the merrier.
