If you’ve been following SoNailicious for a while, you’ll know I’ve got a penchant for geometric prints. Consequently, as soon as I saw this fabulous bag from the Anya Hindmarch Fall 2016 collection I had instant inspiration for Day 3 of NAFW 2016.
Like all my NAFW manicures, this Anya Hindmarch nail design is done freehand. It was a bit more difficult than I expected because the sharp angles and strict symmetry of the complex geometric pattern is so unforgiving. I tried my best! Luckily, the new SoNailicious brush (still a prototype at this stage) I’ve been using makes it quite easy to paint sharp triangles and perfectly straight lines. So when they tell you that it’s doesn’t matter what nail art brush you use… oh yes it does! A great brush makes nail art so much easier. I can say that with absolute certainty after test-driving over dozen of different samples.
Another great way of doing a Anya Hindmarch inspired nail design would be to paint alternating prints, the thumb and ring finger, on all nails. Also, if you’re into matte nails, this nail design looks stunning mattified!
To get the look: Use the same ‘line work’ technique shown in this video tutorial. First, apply 2-3 coats white nail polish on the ring, middle and thumb fingers and 2 coats of blue polish on your pointer and little finger. Then, use a striping nail art brush to paint the blue details on nails that have a white base. Then add red details, as pictured, and finish by going over the red and blue lines to correct any errors. Let your manicure dry for a few minutes. Clean up if necessary and seal it with a quick dry top coat.
