Day 4 of Nail Art Fashion Week was allocated to nail art inspired by a Fashion Trend. Of course, the Bold Geometric Print trend had my name written all over it but instead of the typical monotone, I created this colourful manicure. Love, love, love it! Hope you do too.
By the way, in case you’re wondering what’s up with my nail shape – I created this manicure before all the other manicures in the challenge. When I was collecting my nailspiration and researching the subject for each manicure, this particular idea appealed to me so much I had to try it right away. It appeared to be some kind of fate because the next day, I broke my ring finger nail and off the length went.
I was lucky enough to take photos before it happened (NPA‘s rule #1 – first take photos, then do everything else) because on a shorter length this bold geometric design wouldn’t look as impressive as it looks on longer nails. To fit the three thick stripes on one (short) nail would be challenging and even if I did, there wouldn’t be enough of ‘white space’ left for the design to look well balanced.
To get the look: first paint the white base. Then using a striping nail art brush, outline the boarders of your pattern with blue polish. Fill in the areas as per the pattern. Then repeat with green and red polishes*. Let your finished nail design to dry for a couple of minutes, seal it all with 2-3 coats of a glossy top coat and you’re done! To learn how to do the half moon details refer to this tutorial.
* Make sure you clean your nail art brush thoroughly between the colours!
Used: all Essie – Blanc (white base), Peach Daiquiri (pink), Ruffles and Feather (green), Strut Your Stuff (blue) and Essie Good To Go top coat and striping RuNail brush.
So, how do you like these Bold Geometric Print nails? Are you keeping up with the challenge?
