I’m kicking off the first day of Nail Art Fashion Week 2016* with these Gucci nails. As a fashion obsessed person, it’s usually quite difficult for me to choose just one favourite designer. However, this year it’s Gucci without doubt!
Abundance of graphic prints, vivid colours and stunning wearable designs – Gucci Fall 2016 collection ticks all the right boxes. Their new creative director, Alessandro Michele, stays true to the spirit of the century old fashion house while setting new trends. He keeps his feet firmly on the ground, every piece from the new collection is insanely wearable. You just can’t help but want all these dresses, shoes and bags to magically appear in your wardrobe. While I don’t own any Gucci (yet), at least I can proudly wear some of their designs on my nails ;)
Needless to say, the new Gucci collection is full of nailspiration! From colourful accessories to printed dressed – I could easily make the entire NAFW2016 Gucci inspired. But that won’t be fair… So instead I dedicate Day 1 of NAFW* ‘Favourite Designer’ to Gucci.
The colourful dress that inspired today’s manicure is my favourite piece from the collection. I think it’s also great source of inspiration for a gradient manicure. However, to keep the original design idea, i.e. separate layers of fabric, I opted for a multi-layered freehand manicure. So if you wish to recreate this nail design, you’ll need a good curving nail art brush and some nail art skills too.
To get the look: Apply a nail strengthener/base coat. First, start from the nail base by creating the dark green half moon detail on all nails, then add the mint arched stripe on all nails. Repeat with peach, pink and dark red. Let your manicure dry for a few minutes, clean up if necessary and seal it with a high gloss top coat.
* Download the NAFW 2016 schedule here, if you haven’t already.
Used: ORLY Nailtrition (base), Mint Polish Paradise Found, Picture Polish Chillax, Cirque Colors Lox and Sable, Essie Fiesta, Essie In The Lobby, Sally Hansen Diamond Flash top coat and Curving Brush.
Wearing: T-Bar ring.
What do you think about these Gucci nails… and isn’t that dress fabulous?
