Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) Spring 2013 was filled with some of the prettiest beauty and nails ideas we’d ever seen. The double stripe manicure at Lisa Ho and pure minimalism at Christopher Esber are just 2 examples. At By Johnny (image above) straight, glass-polished hair and make-up and glowing skin with silver chrome eye shadows featured. The metallic silver nails in OPI’s Designer Series Radiance were the perfect hi-tech accent for this look.
The edgy yet feminine make-up at the Ginger & Smart show featured fresh skin, rose lips and barely-there eye makeup. Spring nails in nude shades perfectly complemented the minimalist make-up using OPI’s Don’t Pretzel My Buttons finished with OPI’s Matte Top Coat.
The hair and make-up at Roopa Pemmaraju consisted of a swept up ponytail with a side part combined with nude lips, contoured skin with a dewy look and natural finish. The nails complemented the bright eyeshades with either a vibrant orange, OPI’s In My Back Pocket or a vibrant matte blue, No Room For the Blues.
At Christopher Esber minimalist, barely there make-up and sleek hair were complimented by almond shaped clip-on nails in a soft baby blue shade. The nails were custom made for the show by Manicare.
To match Phoneix Keating’s futuristic collection, the MAC team created a gothic/vampy make-up with dark lips and strong eye-liner. To continue the dark romance trend, Essie came up with a custom nail design – elongated almond shaped clip-ons with a black or white base and a silver vine like pattern on top. Polishes used – Essie Blanc, Essie Licorice and No Place like Chrome.
Talulah was trending the metallic nail in copper, Sally Hansen Pennies for Heaven with a simple black line down the center.
At the Aurelio Costarella show a high drama look was achieved by combining makeup featuring statement, black whisker-like eye-shadows and nails in with OPI’s Black Onyx with OPI Matte top coat and black diamante.
At Alice McCall all nails were done in soft pink nude shade, Essie Sugar Daddy to compliment the fresh and romantic make-up by the Maybelline team which featured bright blue eyelashes.
At Vanishing Elephant nails matched the statement, midnight blue smokey eye make-up. The custom nail design featured OPI’s Eurso Euro as a base with OPI Matte top coat on the tips.
At Lisa Ho – an exclusive nail design featuring OPI’s Bubble Bath as the base with 2 thin racing stripes in OPI’s Bogota Blackberry complimenting the strong blackberry lip make-up.
Camilla – To complete the oriental inspired eye make up in gold shades, nails were covered in metallic green gold in OPI’s Just Spotted the Lizard.
For the flamboyant Easton Pearson show, Renya Xydis herself created colourful up-dos to compliment the glowing, born that way makeup complexion. Bright eye shadows and statement eyebrows matched the colour of the hair, ie. neon yellow, blue, pink and orange. To complete the fun and quirky look nails were dipped in contrasting neon shades of Miss Frou Frou.
