Have you seen the new Marc Jacobs Spring 2016 nail polish collection? You’ll want these colours! But it’s not just about the colour, even though they have no dupes, it’s about the excellent formula and Instagram-worthy packaging. Remember when Marc Jacobs launched his own eponymous beauty line back in 2013? They were an instant hit and, like a true genius, Mr Jacobs took a long pause to give us sufficient time to get familiar with (read: to acquire the entire range) Marc Jacobs Enamored. And now they have released irresistible colours again blowing the budgets of nail polish addicts around the world.
The best two I present you today! Meet the new powder pink creme – Marc Jacobs Peep and extra light mint creme – Marc Jacobs Good Friday.
REVIEW:
Formula: 3-free. Fast drying and very opaque for a light pastel creme. You’ll need only 2 good coats to get Marc Jacobs Peep and Marc Jacobs Good Friday fully opaque. However, the formula is so good even if you apply 3 coats it will look perfectly smooth (Marc Jacobs Peep – 2 coats pictured; Marc Jacobs Good Friday – 3 coats pictured).
Application: These polishes go on flawlessly and they are 100% streak free! Application is easy but I feel like the brush can be improved. Instead of a typical long, thin brush why not to add the rounded brush like in YSL or Dior. I’ll leave it up to Marc.
Finish/Colour: Very glossy cremes. In direct sunlight the light mint creme Marc Jacobs Good Friday looks almost white. The powder lilac pink creme – Marc Jacobs Peep looks a bit warmer and cooler in indirect light. Both polishes look fantastic on a tanned skin, though, due to their cool undertones, they are also great for fair complexion too. That makes them perfect for spring and also for summer when we get a bit more of a tan.
Nail Art: These polishes are great for any kind of nail art. For example, here’s a nail design I did recently with Marc Jacobs Peep.
Dupes: There are no dupes.
Wearability: Very long lasting. Marc Jacobs Peep lasted 7 days with a top coat.
Overall Impression: MUST. HAVE. I usually prefer darker colours but this Marc Jacobs pair was a great investment. Both, Marc Jacobs Good Friday and Marc Jacobs Peep look fantastic on nails and are perfect colours for spring or summer. Plus, there’s the exceptional quality and super long lasting formula! I’m still wearing Marc Jacobs Peep, have a look on my Snapchat (username: SoNailicious).
Availability: Marc Jacobs Peep* and Marc Jacobs Good Friday here US $28; in Australia – via Sephora store, AUS $27.
The pics on the Sephora website Peep aren’t accurate examples of the colour. It’s a much cooler powder lilac/pink pastel.
Wearing: Delicate Midi rings.
Are you a fan of Marc Jacobs polishes? What’s your favourite – Peep or Good Friday?
– Maria, xx
