It’s that time of the year, Australia Day is upon us! Tomorrow we’ll go to the beach, throw shrimps on the barbie and say “Rippa!” to this blessed land DownUnder. But today, while time still allows, the nail art loving part of the Australian population (including myself!) will likely be adding symbols of Australia on their nails.
I’ve previously done cute Australia day nails and an Indigenous Australian Art inspired nail design. This year I’ve decided to go for something different, the green and gold flag. “Why are your nails green and yellow then?” you ask. Good question, Australian sporting teams wear the ‘Green and Gold’ and there’s an unofficial Aussie flag of the same colours although technically they are both green and yellow.
The inspiration for this green and yellow Australia Day nail art was naturally drawn from the symbols on the green and gold Australian flag and the nail design was completely hand-painted. Over the yellow base I painted the green symbols and then sealed it all with a glossy top coat.
Used: Orly Nailtrition (base), Sea Siren Where’s My Sunnies (yellow) and Seaweed (green), detailing and striping nail art brushes and Essie Good To Go top coat.
Wishing all of you a great Australia Day Aussie nail art warriors! To everyone else, wish you were here to have a snag with us ;)
