Dior Cosmic is one of 3 limited edition nail colours they released for summer 2016. Somehow, that release slipped my attention. Then, on a recent shopping trip to check out the new Fall collections (I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow) I discovered this bright coral stunner. Fortunately, it’s spring here in Australia so this vibrant colour with a fabulous shimmer and slightly holographic effect will be on high in rotation in the long warm days ahead.
Like all Dior polishes, Dior Cosmic is perfect in every way… almost. Read the review below to find out more.
Formula: the new-generation Dior Vernis formula that plays up the gel effect is fantastic! It’s very glossy, highly pigmented and fast drying. You only need 2 thin coats to get full opacity.
Application: flawless! The signature Dior flat rounded brush has the precision to get very close to the cuticles and makes application easy.
Finish/Colour: a warm, vibrant coral creme with utra fine shimmer and a delicate holographic effect.
Nail Art: very easy to work with and suitable for nail art.
Dupes: there are some dupes that are similar in colour, but they don’t reproduce the delicate chrome effect and silver micro-shimmer. So there are no exact dupes. To compare it with Dior Pivoine, Cosmic’s coral shade is warmer and lighter. Pivoine‘s shimmer effect is much stronger and more visible on nails.
Wearability: Very long lasting, 6 days with a top coat.
Extra Notes: You have to wear at least 2 coats of protective base coat, the red pigment is so strong it can stain your nails.
Overall Impression: If you love coral and bright manicures in general, Dior Cosmic is for you! It’s striking, yet elegant with a flawless formula and beautiful packaging. Winter ranges are coming which typically means a lack of colour, so my advice to all you nail art warriors is to stock up on brights while you can!
Availability: Dior Cosmic #656 is available now – US $27 via Dior Beauty; £19.50 – here, and AUS $41 – here.
Wearing: Platinum Knuckle ring.
So, what do you think about Dior Cosmic? Are you a fan of this bright coral nail colour?
