Looking for a new colour to add to your stash? I have a fabulous candidate for you! Chanel Bleu Pastel 584 is a new permanent shade released as part of the Énergies et Puretés Spring 2017 collection. Don’t be confused by its spring origins, this stunning light blue nail polish is perfect for any season. I’ve been wearing Bleu Pastel here in Sydney during winter and it looks beautiful when paired with fluffy winter jumpers and dark denim. Magically, this polish is versatile enough to wear during summer. Last week I went on a short tropical escape to Queensland and I can see how beautiful this colour would look like on a slightly tanned complexion.
So before we move onto the seasonal collections, I thought I’d show you this stunner! For the full rundown, read our review below.
REVIEW:
Formula: Chanel Bleu Pastel has the new generation Chanel Gel polish formula which is very glossy, fast drying and long-lasting. It’s 5-free and cruelty free. The polish is very pigmented (which is great for such a light colour!) it took me only 2 layers to get fully opaque coverage.
Application: It was relatively easy to apply, I didn’t quite like the brush (you may remember my brush rant from this post), but the formulation is perfect. The nail polish dries very quickly and yields in a perfectly smooth opaque coverage.
Finish/Colour: Chanel Bleu Pastel is a very light porcelain blue with cool undertones and very subtle turquoise shimmer. It has a classic creme formulation and looks almost white in direct light and light blue in the shade.
Nail Art: Surprisingly, this polish is very well pigmented for a light nail colour and is suitable for any kind of nail art.
Dupes: there are no dupes for Chanel Bleu Pastel, at least not in my collection. It’s very close to Dior Bleuette but definitely not the same. Chanel Bleu Pastel is slightly lighter and cooler then Dior Bleuette. Also, the Bleuette‘s formula is more sheer than Bleu Pastel. Refer to this post for a closer examination of Dior Bleuette.
Wearability: Very long-lasting, it lasted 5 days (yep, 5) without a top coat.
Extra Notes: Bleu Pastel is actually one of the only two Chanel nail polishes I’ve bought out of all the Chanel releases this year. Frankly, I find all the other colours in the range rather uninspiring. The second purchase was Chanel Resplendissant 552, a limited edition cool coral red from the same collection that perfectly matches Bleu Pastel.
Overall Impression: I’m not a huge fan of the Chanel range of this season however Chanel Bleu Pastel is a beautiful exception. The formulation is fantastic and the light blue colour suits almost any skin tone in any season. If you’re also missing the old fun Chanel nail colours or simply looking for a new colour, try Bleu Pastel. It won’t disappoint!
Availability: $28 here and here, in Australia $41 here, or via Chanel beauty counters.
What do you think of Chanel Bleu? Would you limit wearing it to spring or do you think it’s versatile enough for any season?
