The manicure inspiration for Day 6 of Nail Art Fashion Week was a dress from the Fall 2015 collection. It was easy for me to decide which dress I wanted to recreate – the stunning black and pink dress from Tom Ford Fall 2015 collection showcased by Sasha Luss won my heart from the first glance. I had an ambitious ideas of fitting the entire print (3 sets of waves) on each nail but in reality my short nails barely could fit just one wave. So I decided to paint a different set of waves to each nail. Which a kind of makes this nail design look like half moon nails.
Either way, if you decide to try this at home, here’s a few things you should know. Practice your pattern on a paper or a practice wheel and see how you go. Second, only use new, still very liquid polishes that are not fast-drying. Painting all these waves with a goopy polish is a nightmare, if not impossible. Finally, allow yourself enough time, this design is incredibly time consuming! It took me 2 hours! Typically the nail designs you see here on SoNailicious take around 30 minutes. So yes, it wasn’t easy.
To get the look: you’ll need a really good quality striping brush, and some nail art skills. It’s all hand painted, line after line, wave after wave. This Outlined Half Moon Manicure tutorial will be VERY helpful.
So how do you like these Tom Ford black and pink nails? Have you ever done a 2-hour manicure? What was it?
