Are you a fan of 90s music? Then you certainly know Red Hot Chili Peppers! I’m a huge fan of the band and when Google Pixel and YouTube Music invited me to attend Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Sydney, I was super excited and decided to create a special nail design inspired by one of their most famous albums – Blood Sugar Sex Magic.
This Red Hot Chili Peppers design is completely free hand painted. I can tell you it was challenging as I had to recreate the tattoo patterns precisely as they appear on the album cover. So before I proceeded to paint the tattoos on nails, I practiced painting the patterns in my Little Book of Nail Art. So if you ever decide to paint something unusual or difficult on your nails (or your client nails), I highly recommend you try it first on tips or in your Little Book of Nail Art, whichever you have available ;)
To paint the patterns, I use this liner brush and it worked perfectly for creating smooth waves and sharp twirls. As for the roses, I took a short cut and used Roses nail stickers from the new SoNailicious Stickers collection. So at least this part of my manicure was easy.
Now enjoy, the nail art!
Used:
- ORLY Nailtrition – base coat
- OPI Alpine Snow – white
- ORLY Liquid Vinyl – black
- Roses stickers – from the new SoNailicious Stickers collection
- SN 02 Needle brush – to paint tattoo details
- SN 04 Slayer brush – to clean up around cuticles
- Mavala Gel Finish top coat
- Wearing: Gunmetal knuckle ring
Now, over to you!
Are you a fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers? And how do you like the nails – are they RHCP enough? ;)
Also, would you be interested in seeing a video tutorial on how to create this design? I’m considering filming it but only if you want it, so if you’d like to see – let me know in the comments below!
– Maria, xx
P.S. I have also filmed our Red Hot Chili Peppers adventure! So stay tuned for a full report from the concert – coming soon on SoNailicious!
