Phillip Lim fashion designs are all about clean lines and pure colours – subtly feminine, yet modern. So were the nails for their latest Spring/Summer 2013 runway show, created by Essie. In case you’re curious, you can see here what exactly the manicure looked like.
However, instead of a direct re-creation, I decided to personalise the bi-tonal nail by adding a delicate stripe of shimmering nail polish in the middle. This way, not only does it look a bit dressier, but it also visually elongates your nails. This makes this type of nail art perfect for ladies with short nails and no time for more complex nail art endeavors.
NAIL ART HOW TO: 1. Paint one half of each nail with one stroke using a beige shade. I used Essie Brooch The Subject.
2. Paint the other half of each nail with the pink neutral shade. I used Essie Not Just A Pretty Face.
3. Draw a thin line along the center of each nail with a shimmer nail polish right along the line between the two Essie nail polishes. I used Revlon Gold Coin.
4. Apply a thick layer of clear top coat and enjoy your new elegant manicure!
What I also like about this nail art design is that it looks quite unusual, and if done neatly, looks quite professional – in reality, it doesn’t require any nail art skill or specific tools.
