Geode nails is one of the 5 nail designs that I’ll be teaching during Intricate Patterns masterclass at Beauty Expo. It’s one of the hottest nail trends of 2017, which is a logical continuation of nail world’s obsession with natural stone patterns. Remember last year’s high-in-demand Marble nails? Well, 2017 is all about Geode. One of the advantages of natural stone nail designs is that they are relatively easy to do. As long as you adhere to the right colour scheme and execute the technique correctly – a beautiful flawless nail design is guaranteed.
Geode nails can be done in a few different colour palettes – ranging from black to pink (I’ll show a few variations at the Beauty Expo). As for this design I opted for an unusual take on Geode nails trend. Instead of doing full nail stone effect I only painted Geode pattern on half of the nail. As for the colour scheme, I also went beyond the usual look and used way more colours in the pattern than it supposed to be. This nail art experiment turned out quite well, do you think?
For this design I used all the colours and nail art decorations by Caption Polish. Their polishes are a treat to work with – very pigmented, fast-drying and vibrant colours – nail artist’s delight! A detailed breakdown of products used is below.
Used: all Young Nails Australia products – Caption Polish colours: Drama Finds Me, Come Up For Air, Free to Do Whatever, Heaven Help Me, Me First, Hold On Tight, Never Ask Permission, plus gold foil, top coat and Striper nail art brush.
Note: if you’re interested to try some Caption Polish products, you need to register an account with Young Nails here or email to info@youngnails.com.au. As a salon brand, they don’t sell retail but you’ll be able to try and purchase their products at the Beauty Expo.
So… what do you think about the Geode nails trend? Are you keen to try it?
– Maria, xx
