How often do you get that itchy feeling to remove your 1 day old (or maybe 1 hour old) manicure just to try a newly arrived polish? How often do you come up with at least 10 different nail design ideas just from looking at the new shades?
We get that almost every time we see a brand new nail polish. This time it was the ORLY Surreal Collection that made our creative juices flow faster than usual. Remember this photo? It was when we met the founder of ORLY, Jeff Pink and saw the Surreal collection for the first time. True to ORLY’s tradition, the new collection is right on trend but at the same time it’s distinctively different from all other seasonal launches.
The Surreal collection consists of 6 moody autumnal shades in different finishes – 2 cremes, 1 shimmer creme, 1 glitter, 1 superfine glitter duo-chrome and 1 duo-chrome shade. You can see them all here. Today we’re showing you the 2 cremes – Teal Unreal and Pink Waterfall in action. ORLY Teal Unreal is the tealest teal shade out there. It’s rich and dark yet bright enough for a statement colour. ORLY Pink Waterfall is a cool, not so girly pink. The desire to combine these two shades in one manicure led to the creation of our Crusader nails.
Why Crusader? Simply because the cross like pattern with studs on the thumb and ring finger reminds us an armored crusader’s shield. This nail design also looks fantastic just with one accent nail carrying the crusader pattern and all other nails in plain pink. Scroll down for a quick how-to.
- Apply 2 coats of pink nail polish on all nails. We used Orly Pink Waterfall.
- Create patterns with teal shade – either use tape or free hand it if your hand is steady enough. It’s much quicker to freehand. We used Orly Teal Unreal and freehanded the pattern.
- Attach studs on all nails in the pictured pattern. If you need more info about working with studs, refer to this tutorial from our book.
- Seal the whole nail with a top coat to secure the studs. Admire your work!
Used: ORLY Nailtrition – base, ORLY Teal Unreal #20803 and Pink Waterfall #20799 and SallyHansen Diamond Flash top coat.
How do you like these Crusader nails the new ORLY shades? Are you keen to give the crusader pattern a go? Why not to Tweet or Instagram us a photo of your version of the crusader nails or any other nail art you’ve done with the ORLY Surreal collection (tag #sonailicious). We’d love to see your work!
