We discovered a lot of new polishes during our recent world tour and what better way to kick off the reviews than with this stunner – Chanel Mediterranee! The new Chanel Summer 2015 collection launched just before we left Australia and I instantly fell in love with the vibrant colours. Knowing that luxury beauty products are generally much cheaper to buy in Europe than in Australia meant showing a bit of discipline but boy, was it worth the wait!
Not only it was about 25% cheaper to buy Chanel products in Rome or Moscow, they also had a wider range and everything was in stock. The first acquisitions were Chanel Mediterranee and Chanel Terrana (limited edition). I bought them as a pair because these two colours look perfect together (yes, nail art is coming) and also, well, I just wanted to celebrate our arrival in Italy! To my delight, Chanel Mediterranee was actually the colour of the Mediterranean Sea.
It’s not your typical summer nail colour but Chanel Mediterranee captures the mood of a beach holiday perfectly. It looks so stunning on tanned skin and can be paired with any kind of lipstick for an evening look. It looks right at home during the day and on the beach too. A versatile must-have!
Detailed review, as always, below.
Formula: A fast drying, 5-Free and highly pigmented formula. It looks fine with one coat but two thin coats is better in my opinion (pictured).
Application: Signature Chanel brush that makes application very easy. This polish goes on flawlessly, minimum effort required.
Finish: High gloss classic creme in a vibrant teal shade. Chanel Mediterranee can easily be worn without a top coat. But to make your mani last longer, add 1-2 layers of high shine.
Wearability: Surprisingly it lasted 4 days chip-free with a top coat. I guess Chanel have finally improved their formula. It even survived a boat trip around Capri and days at the beach.
Nail Art: Great for any kind of nail art but also quite beautiful on its own. If you’re looking for a brighter statement look, pair it with gold or shimmering bronze like Chanel Terrana.
Overall Impression: Yes! Stunning nail colour that is a great alternative to classic summer coral and reds. It’s understated chic and yet enough of a statement for a special occasion.
Availability: Chanel Le Vernis Mediterranee is available now – $27.00 here and in Australia – $39.00 here.
