Impeccable swatches, great taste and Sarah’s witty personality make Samarium’s Swatches one of the best nail blogs to follow. She started blogging in April 2011 as a hobby. Since then her following has grown even faster than her nail polish collection which now accounts for over 1000 polishes! Earlier this year, Sarah collaborated with Picture Polish and now her name is on one of their polishes – Atomic by Samarium’s Swatches. Finally, and personally I think most importantly, Sarah is a mum to one gorgeous little girl! That makes the whole story about Sarah’s success even more inspirational, new mums can stay polished too!
So read on lovelies, as today Sarah shares a few great nail care and nail art tips with us!
Why nails?
My first obsession started with makeup, and makeup blogs. I saw them posting stunning nail polishes and it all spun out of control from there. I took part in Zoya’s 3 free promo two years ago and I really think that Zoya was what pushed me to becoming addicted.
Favourite nail blogger?
I have to say Sarah from Chalkboard Nails. Her nails are perfection, as well as her photography and she does killer nail art. I remember first seeing her blog and instantly falling in love with it!
Nail care product you can’t live without?
A few favorites that I use everyday are CND Solaroil, Pretty & Polished Cuticle Balm and the infamous Lush Lemony Flutter!
NAIL POLISH FAVORITES:
Favourite nail polish brand?
Its a tie between Zoya (1) and China Glaze.
Favourite indie polish brand?
Jindie Nails (2), she is steadily coming out with new gorgeous polishes that I have never seen before!
Best luxury brand?
Illamasqua (4).
Which brand has the best formula?
The brand with the most consistent formula that i have tried is A England (3), they are always impeccable and never disappoint.
Which brand has the best brush?
I just recently tried Lancome polishes and I am in awe of the brush!
NAIL ART:
Favourite colour combinations?
Generally all things colorful and bright (1)! I love trying to use a whole rainbow array of colors in one manicure (colourful splotched mani – 3)!
Favorite pattern/nail art trend?
Watercolor nails, and Gradients (2)!
What’s your best tip for painting your other hand?
To work slowly and carefully. Something I say a lot having a toddler. (So much that she actually says it to me too!). I like to use thin coats and always have acetone and a angled liner brush nearby for clean up!
The funniest/the most adventurous nail art you have ever created?
The most adventurous would probably be my Zombie mani! It was so much fun to create!
How do you get inspired for your nail art?
I have a notebook that I write my ideas and sketch into. I really like creating nail art for things I’m a big fan of like my Doctor Who Manicure (4). I have so many things planned that I haven’t gotten time for yet! Other bloggers are very inspiring as well.
