Christian Dior, one of the most recognised fashion powerhouses has also been forging a position as a beauty trendsetter in the last few years. Whether its due to the appointment of the new creative director, Raf Simons in 2012 or Pat McGrath’s genius, many of the hottest beauty trends of the recent years, (neon eyeliner, silver eye shadow and fuchsia lips) all come from Dior runways.
The most recent show was quite different however. After 3 years full of bright colours, crystals, gold and glitter, the new Dior Fall 2014 makeup look was somehow surprisingly minimalist. The flamboyant woman of previous seasons is gone and a new (Dior version) working woman emerged. She has striking shimmering, cerulean blue or khaki green eyes, nude lips, subtly glowing complexion and sleek yet flowing hair. This undeniably luxurious and slightly masculine makeup look heavily focuses on the eyes and is set to become the new IT thing in the world of beauty. All the neon that dominated the beauty industry for the last 3 years was completely gone.
Given that Christian Dior has been dictating beauty trends heavily over the last 3 years, does then the absence of neon details in Dior Fall 2014 spell the end for neon?
To me, the new eye-focused Dior makeup look certainly appeals more then the neon eyeliner from the past seasons and I’m eager to try this one soon (next #MakeupMonday post?).
What about you guys, will you miss neon? Or do you like the subtle eye make up look more?
