The manicure inspiration for Day 2 of Nail Art Fashion Week was your favorite shoe designer or shoes. Easy! For me, it had to be Sophia Webster. I’ve been a fan of Sophia’s designs for a while now. Her signature bright colours and pop-art prints singlehandedly created a new trend in fashion. Why wear boring black shoes when you can have flamingos or even pineapples on your feet! They’re a bit pricey though, so for now I’ll wear Sophia Webster on my nails.
Today’s Polka Dot Watermelon nails inspired by Sophia Webster’s Jessica Watermelon courts scream summer! I can see a great potential for this nail design to go beyond this challenge. The black and white polka dot with a fluro French tip is a great wearable nail art look on it’s own. And the negative space watermelons, combining two trends in one – negative space + fruity nails, are so cool! Expect to see a lot of negative space fruit nails this summer! Remember, you heard (and saw!) it here first ;)
To get the look: Like my Day 1 Kenzo nails, this nail design was freehand painted. The dots were done with the smallest dotting tool in my set. If you need more direction on how to do polka dots, please refer to this Polka Dot Nails tutorial from our 30 Easy Nail Designs book. For French tips – check out this tutorial. Finally, if you’d like to learn how to do a watermelon, check these Tutti Frutty Nails tutorial from the book.
Used: Essie Blanc, Mint Polish Bouquet Toss (watermelon) and Paradise Found (green), Sea Siren Mojito Mania (fluoro green), Essie Good To Go top coat and SN striping brush.
So what do you think, do negative space Watermelon nails have a bright future?
