Right now we’re staying in the capital of The United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. It’s a region of contrasts, astonishing opulence combined with orthodox modesty and colossal architectural creations erupting from the vast empty desert. A place where you can buy almost anything you can imagine but you can never see the stars during the night.
This strange contrast was my inspiration for the Golden Hour manicure. A neutral shade of light latte was combined with opulent gold and rose glitter. I went for a reverse glitter gradient as to me that’s what I feel expresses Abu Dhabi and Dubai’s spirit. It’s not about bright colours or screaming patterns but rather noble, hidden luxury. You can feel the opulence, you can guess it’s here but most of the time it is just the neutral, monotone shade of the desert.
To create a reverse glitter gradient: paint all nails in one base shade, let it dry. Then dab with a sponge shimmer shade and follow with glitter. Clean up with a thin brush soaked in acetone around the cuticles once you’ve finished creating your gradient. Also, this glitter gradient tutorial will be helpful.
Used: base – OPI My Vampire is Buff, reverse gradient – Revlon Gold Coin 925 and Ciate Antique Brooch 113, ORLY Nailtrition base coat, Sally Hansen Diamond Flash top coat.
