You Need Right Now: Kat Von D Adora Duo

Two awesome Kat Von D products for less than the price of one? Yes please! I’ve had the Kat Von D Studded X lip and nail set on my must-have list ever since I saw them at Sephora showcase a few months ago. Things takes a while to arrive in Australia, so imagine my excitement when I saw this set on display in Sephora Sydney!

In short, this set is fantastic! You get the signature Kat Von D Adora lipstick and a Kat Von D VS Formula X nail polish. They match perfectly so it’s easy to coordinate your nails with your lipstick! Personally, I love the miniature size, it’s great for traveling and doesn’t add much weight to my handbag.

The colour? To die for! This metallic red is vibrant yet classic enough to suit anyone.

Sound exciting? Before you run to get it, let’s have a look at some extra technical details:

REVIEW:

Formula: the formula is fantastic. It’s 3-free, cruelty-free, fast drying and highly pigmented. Pictured – only 2 thin coats! Also, it doesn’t stain nails and is very easy to remove.

Application: 2 thin coats will ensure fully opaque coverage. However, the supplied brush* is unevenly cut and made application difficult.

Finish/Colour: Both the lipstick and the nail polish are highly pigmented metallic reds. The colour is warm, tending towards orange. The Kat Von D Adora lipstick has matte finish and has a fine red shimmer. The polish is very glossy with a strong metallic effect.

Nail Art: The nail polish is easy to work with, looks fabulous on its own and is perfect for any kind of nail art.

Dupes: No 100% dupes. The closest nail colour to Kat Von D Adora nail polish that I could find is OPI Gimme A Lido Kiss. However, Gimme A Lido Kiss contains shimmer, is lighter and the formula much more sheer than Adora‘s.

Wearability: just like the full-size Kat Von D VS Sephora nail polishes, the mini version is very long lasting. 5 days with a top coat. The lipstick is also quite long lasting for a red and the matte finish means it doesn’t bleed.

Extra Notes:

• The lipstick is small, only 1.2g, but still it performs as good as the full-size.
• I can’t confirm if it’s just the brush in this particular bottle or if all polishes from the Kat Von D mini sets have low quality brushes. The low price is some consolation for such a disappointing brush.

Overall Impression: The mini version of the famous Kat Von D lipstick and Formula X polish are of excellent quality. This duo is a perfect travelling companion and fits in the smallest handbags. Major bonus, you’re saving money! Kat Von D lipstick alone usually costs $21 USD. By getting this set for mere $15USD, you get lipstick and a nail polish.
