6 weeks, that’s exactly how long it took me to re-gain strong and relatively long nails. While travelling for 2 months my nail strengthening routine was in hiatus. It had an immediate effect on my nails. They were dry, prone to breaking and impossible to grow beyond shorties. After travelling i was test driving numerous nail treatments which made it impossible to test one product for a long time. When I did commit, Essie Grow Stronger base coat was the nail strengthener that I put my high hopes on and it didn’t disappoint!

Verdict:
This product delivers on it’s promise, but not instantly. Below are a few more positive qualities we discovered:
- Easy to apply but it takes a while to dry. Especially if you apply 2 coats.
- In light nude shade with a glossy finish.
- Great base for a manicure. It ensures a smoother and more even surface. Check out Before and After shots.
- Enriched with organic ingredients like vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, other herb extracts and mineral strengtheners. 3-Free, does not contain Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde or Toluene but does contain Nitrocellulose.
Extra Notes: Essie Grow Stronger base coat is fantastic for strengthening weak nails. It took 6 weeks to really strengthen and change the nails appearance As you’d expect from Essie, Grow Stronger is an excellent quality product that works really well. If you’re patient, you’ll be well pleased with the results.
If your nails have ridges, we’d recommend combining this product with Essie Ridge Filling base to ensure picture perfect, smooth look for your manicure.

Most of US EBay sellers don’t ship to Australia. Also, there’s no guarantee on the quality of products (and origins) on eBay. I had a few unfortunate experiences which is enough for me not to buy nail care and polish from eBay ever again.
