Dior Diorific Precious Rocks has arrived! This is, without doubt the most coveted Holiday collection of the year and I’m incredibly excited to be one of the first to show it to you! Each year I eagerly await the release of Diorifics. These limited edition colours are always divine and the fact that they are only released once a year makes them even more desirable.
This year Dior have outdone themselves and released a breathtaking collection inspired by gemstones. Diorific Precious Rocks features glitters, metallic finishes and jewel colors in five opulent evening nail colours:
- Ruby – ruby red with a metallic finish
- Grenat – a deep red creme
- Emerald – emerald green metallic
- Amethyst – dark plum creme
- Precious Rocks – a fine gold and silver glitter in a champagne gold shimmer base.
This year instead of getting all five new lacquers, I have only purchased two this year – Ruby & Emerald. Well, initially I purchased four colours, all except the Grenat but I ended up returning Amethyst and Precious Rocks because they were identical to the colours I already own.
Diorific Precious Rocks is exactly the same as Diorific State of Gold from 2015. The only difference is that Precious Rocks has a liner brush and State of Gold was equipped with the usual Dior brush. See swatches here.
Regarding Amethyst… I’d love to add this almost black prune colour to my stash. However, it’s very similar to Diorific Smoky and I just don’t feel like spending a small fortune on a polish that I essentially already have under a different name. See it in action here.
As for Diorfic Grenat, it’s stunning but I already have enough reds in my stash, including Diorific Passion and Diorific Shock.
So if you feel like treating yourself to a unique Diorific, I recommend investing in Ruby and Emerald. However, if you don’t have any Diorific polishes in your collection yet, then it’s time to begin. The formula is superb and they last for years. In my opinion, they are some of the best nail lacquers on the market. Remember, they are limited edition and usually sell fast so act fast.

REVIEW:
Formula: 5-free. Very fast drying. Due to a metallic finish, Ruby and Emerald are bit more sheer than the classic Diorific creme polishes. You can get away with 2 thick coats to get them fully opaque, but I applied 3 thin coats for a more even finish.
Application: The signature thick rounded Dior brush makes application very easy and flawless. No clean up required! Also, they yield in a flawless, 100% even and streak-free finish, which is fantastic for a metallic polish.
Finish: Diorific Ruby and Emerald are beautiful glossy metallics with addition of extra fine gold shimmer. Top coat didn’t really make any difference to the polish’s appearance – photos above no top coat. However, to make your manicure last longer I’d highly recommend adding 1 layer of a top coat.
Wearability: All Dior polishes are very long lasting. The ones I tried all 4-5 days without chipping.
Nail Art: Great for any kind of nail art and quite beautiful on its own. They’d also look amazing mattified – check out photos of matte Emerald below! I used Mavala Matt to mattify.
Overall Impression: If you don’t have the other Diorific colours yet and your budget allows, get the entire range – you’ll love it! However, if you’re on a budget and/or already have some dupes, then invest in Ruby and Emerald. They are truly unique, their formula is superb and the packaging is divine. Diorifics are probably some of the best nail lacquers on the market and they are limited edition and selling fast. So don’t delay.
Where you can buy them: Dior Diorific Precious Rocks nail polishes available now – CAD/US $28 here and here, in Australia $43 AUD here, Europe and the UK – £20.50 here.
See and shop the entire Dior Precious Rocks collection here and here.
Wearing: Gold Knuckle Ring with Diamantes and Precious Stones ring.
Over to you!
