Summer is just around the corner, even though it hasn’t felt like it in Sydney this November. Here are 5 nail polish shades to get you in the mood for summer which cost less than a large cappuccino:
1. ulta3 Orchid 13 mL – $2
Cult cheapie polish brand ulta3 can sometimes be a bit hit-and-miss – luckily $2 isn’t too much to lose! They get it completely right with Orchid, a rich purple with subtle gold shimmer that’s great year-round. And it only needs one coat! (two if you’re pedantic)
2. Essence LOL 8 mL – $2.75
A lovely grassy not-quite-neon green creme from the newly revamped Essence nail polish line. A perfect summer shade to make your nails pop, and unlike most neons, is done in two coats.
3. Chi Chi My Bad 10 mL – $5
My Bad contains two of the best toppers – glitter (silver holographic) and flakies (red) – in a sheer black base. Perfect for special occasions when you want something a bit edgy. A black base is a good idea to show off the particles.
4. Mode Coral 15 mL – $2.45
Orange is set to be this summer’s trendiest shade, being Pantone’s colour of the year, and polish is an easy way of incorporating it into your outfit. Coral is a bit sheer, but builds over 3-4 coats.
5. BYS Colour Change Blue 14 mL – $4
A polish which changes colour with the temperature is nail art with zero effort! This shade is blue when cold, and a beautiful pastel jade green when warm – watch unique patterns appear as you jump into the pool, read in the sun or sip on a cocktail. Check out a swatch here.
