Adventures in Polishland is a well known nail blog from the USA dedicated to fabulous and affordable nails . Christina started her blog on April 10, 2012. In just over a year the blog has quickly grown and gained a loyal following. She blogs every second day and her ever-growing nail polish collection consists of almost 400 polishes.
Christina kindly agreed to share some of her nail secrets with us. So here they are, read on lovelies!
I have always loved to paint my nails, but during my senior year of college I began to use Pinterest and discovered a number of nail art tutorials and other nail trends that I wanted to try out. One day, a friend of mine was wearing an accent nail manicure, and mentioned that she “read the nail blogs.” This struck me as interesting — a nail blog?! I can do that! I had no idea how popular nail blogs were, or the tremendous amount of support that I would soon discover.
Favourite nail blogger?
Love for Lacquer is my biggest inspiration! Her blog is so professionally done, and she has gained an amazing following.
Nail care product you can’t live without?
Sunny’s Miracle Balm from the indie brand 365 Days of Color is now a staple in my nail care routine. It really is a miracle worker for my cuticles!
The best nail care tip?
I cannot stress this enough — always wear base coat! Not only does it prevent staining, but it helps to adhere polish to your nails for longer wear. Plus, it strengthens your nails.
Favourite indie polish brand?
My favorite indie brand is A Rhyming Dictionary Polish (1). Her polishes are amazing quality, and are extremely versatile. Her prices are also more affordable than other indie brands, at $7.50 per full size bottle.
Which brand has the best formula?
If you want to purchase a polish and have a great formula guaranteed, I recommend spending a little more and purchasing an Essie polish for around $8. I’ve never been disappointed with an Essie polish (4)! Plus, this brand comes out with new colors every season.
Which brand has the best brush?
I love the large, flat brush from the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (2) polishes! They take a bit of getting used to, but are amazing once you get the hang of them.
Favorite pattern/nail art trend?
I love geometric nail designs using scotch tape! It is so easy to get a fabulous manicure with the tape trick, and anyone can do it! One of my favorite scotch tape manicures was using a gold glitter from Shimmer Polish (3) over a purple color, and then putting a matte top coat over it.
What’s your best tip for painting your other hand?
Slow and steady wins the race! Take your time, and don’t worry about getting it perfect. You can always clean up your mistakes later! You will also find that practice makes perfect. The more often you paint your nails, the better you will become!
