To say we are excited about the newest OPI Gwen Stefani collection is an understatement, we’re elated! All of the shades look fantastic but the most interesting in our opinion is the silver chrome OPI Push And Shove. This outstanding shade, like OPI Liquid Sands, could result in a whole new generation of chrome polishes.

Let’s find out what is so special about OPI Push And Shove – read our full review below.

Set includes: Full size OPI Push & Shove silver chrome lacquer, 15 ml and a mini bottle of OPI Lay Down That Base nail base, 3.75 ml.

Formula:  A fast drying, 3-free.

Application: Easy to apply with a signature extra-wide OPI brush. Goes on with streaks but evens as it dries to a smooth and even finish. It’s thick so you may find 1 coat is enough, we applied 2 coats in the pictured example. The foil effect finish accentuates nail surface imperfections so we recommend buffing your nails lightly before applying the base and then Push and Shove. This polish looks best on perfectly smooth nails.

Finish: Intense, mirror like silver chrome. No top coat required*.

Wearability: 1 day to 2 days maximum.

Nail Art: OPI Push and Shove is good as a base for nail art but keep in mind top coat doesn’t make this polish look good (read ‘Extra Notes’ below).

Overall Impression: OPI Push And Shove is a stunning silver chrome nail polish that is almost identical to foil look. It’s doesn’t last long and requires perfectly smooth nail surface. It’s beautiful, but due to it’s tricky formula, some may find it disappointing. However, if you’re looking for a stand out silver polish, have perfectly even nail surface and don’t mind it lasting 2 days maximum, then you’ll love it.

*Extra Notes: Instructions for application specifically state “do not use top coat”. We confirm the same, do NOT use top coat with OPI Push and Shove. As our experiment revealed, a top coat destroys the chrome finish completely.

Availability: OPI Push And Shove Chrome Set –  available from January 2014 online, from $9 here. In Australia – $19.95, from David Jones and selected pharmacies.

  • Wow, this polish is gorgeous! I am getting it, so excited to try it out! Beautiful photos as usual :)

    • Thank you Kelli! Look forward to seeing it on your nails sometime soon ;)

  • Omgosh! What a killer colour! Definitely looking forward to see this one in person! Btw, I’m curious does it get destroyed too even when using a matte topcoat?

    • Yes, so beautiful indeed! Sadly with a matte top coat it doesn’t look good at all. I’ve tried all top coats I currently have and they kill the mirror shine completely.

      • Thank you so much for the tests you did :) Real pity topcoats can’t be used with this polish. But on the bright side, it makes it a fast polish to wear when on-the-go, right? ;) Real gorgeous one too ? Can’t wait to see this in my country!

Btw, I realised its a duet pack. I’m wondering, what comes with OPI Push And Shove?

        • Janelle

It comes with the base coat that you have to use with it

I just got push and shove and I am so in love with it! FYI though, I decided to try a top coat with it and mine did not lose the chrome effect AT ALL. I use Seche Vite (which in my honest opinion is the best top coat I’ve ever used), and the chrome effect is still there and still perfect :)

    • Saskia Snepvangers

True!! So glad to see that I’m not the only one that sais this!!!

  • Magical!

No topcoat is nonsense! I own this polish too and it sure can be used with top coat and then it still looks mirror-like! I tried Seche Vite on top and I used China Glaze’s Fast Foward. At first, it dulls the mirror look, but about half an hour later, when it’s all dry, the dull look is gone completely! This way you can enjoy this polish a lot longer.
And the special base coat is not a must too….. it works on top of bare nails (doesn’t stain the nails) and it works on top of gel and or gel polish
